HAUTE DOGS: A TRADITIONAL SNACK WITH A BITE!
Now that hamburgers have gotten the luxury treatment, prepared with foie gras, truffles and other delicacies, it’s the hot-dog’s time to shine! Of course, French bistros already offer their ”European” version, made with pain baguette and merguez sausage. Nevertheless, haute dog restaurants have a full, varied menu, offering more than 15creations that will revolutionize the definition of a hot-dog.
This trend is slowly spreading across the United States. The Hawaiian joint Hank’s Haute Dogs has a wide array of choice: lobster, rabbit, chicken, chorizo and saucisse andouille, his culinary inventions would make any foodie’s palate travel in flavours.
But the ultimate refinement belongs to the ultra-trendy New York café Serendipity 3 and their ”Serendipity Foot Longue Haute Dog”: 100% beef sausage, grilled in white truffle oil, encased in a German-imported bretzel. The condiments are also very exclusive: haute dog is garnished with foie gras and black truffles. Its excess lies in its length, 1 foot, as well as in its price, $69 USD.
